Application of Screws in Prosthodontics

Indications for use of screws in Prosthodontics:

1. Screws main applications are the connections of abutments and the construction of functional fixed dental prostheses.
2. Where a fixed dental prosthesis can not be constructed, screws can be employed to connect parts of the prosthesis in the mouth, thereby forming a functional fixed prosthesis.
3. Screw assemblies may be used to allow the dental prosthesis to be removed by the dentist.
4. It is possible to examine the area underneath the pontics to prevent inflammation.
5. Repairs are simplified.
